About

For as long as I can remember, my life has been consumed by the twin passions of creative writing and art. I grew up in Sacramento, California, studied creative writing in Oregon, and traveled extensively before moving to Arcata, California, where I began my love affair with clay. While working on my M.A. in literature at Humboldt State University, I enrolled in a beginning ceramics class just for fun. I quickly found myself hooked. I spent several more years taking ceramics classes, as well as a semester on exchange studying ceramics at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, Germany. I currently teach creative writing, English, and ceramics at a local high school, and create stoneware pottery at the Fire Arts Center in Arcata. I find the ceramic medium a fascinating and unpredictable process that never fails to excite my imagination.
